Katie Lyons brings warmth, creativity, and deep expertise to her role as a middle school English and History teacher at Linder. Since joining the team in January 2022, she’s become known for the way she sparks a genuine love of reading, writing, and critical thinking in her students. With a B.A. in Elementary Education from Oakland University and a Master’s in Curriculum, Assessment, and Instruction from Walden University, Katie blends research-backed methods with a student-centered approach that helps learners grow in both skill and confidence.
Certified in both English and Social Sciences with a Virginia Postgraduate Professional License, Katie creates a classroom where lively discussion, real-world connections, and creativity thrive. Her lessons are rich with meaning—encouraging students to ask questions, think independently, and express themselves clearly.
Outside the classroom, Katie’s love of travel and culture fuels her teaching with fresh perspectives. She also enjoys reading, gardening, cooking, and spending time with her family and friends.
