Why yes, we are!
Linder is preparing to open the Upper School in the former Ross building on N. Washington Street in Old Town Alexandria, next to Christ Church. Construction is planned to begin in the Fall. It is a $7M renovation that will transform the building into a 2-story, state-of-the-art learning space.
We will welcome our first high school students in Fall 2025. While renovations are being completed, Upper School classes will be held in the classrooms within the historic Christ Church (directly next door to the future Upper School!)
Once built, the new building will house the Middle School (Grades 7-8) and Upper School (Grades 9-10). The current buildings will house K-6
Applications are currently open, and will be considered on a rolling admissions basis.

At Linder, we don’t assign nightly homework. Research shows that homework often has little impact on learning outcomes, especially for younger students.
Instead, we ensure students have plenty of time during the school day to practice and reinforce their skills. After school, we encourage students to rest, play, and pursue their interests so they can return refreshed and ready to learn.

Our priority is always to ensure your child receives the support they need. We collaborate closely with families to provide personalized and flexible solutions tailored to each child.
Additional math and reading support with one of our learning specialists is available on an as-needed basis.
For occupational therapy (OT), physical therapy (PT), and speech-language pathology (SLP), we welcome outside providers to work with students during the school day, either in a pull-out or push-in setting. Families often appreciate the convenience of having these services seamlessly integrated into their child’s schedule, eliminating the need for after-school appointments.
-
We make sure every child receives the support they need. We understand that some students may have daytime appointments with specialists or require specific supports, and we will work directly with your family to accommodate these needs.
We also welcome outside providers to work with students on campus during the school day. For pull-out services, Linder’s staff coordinates directly with your provider(s) to schedule sessions that won't interfere with core content blocks. We provide dedicated on-campus spaces for these services.Push-in services, on the other hand, are integrated directly into the classroom.
This approach often eliminates the need for after-school appointments, promoting a more balanced and stress-free routine for our families.
Here you can find our list of trusted partners. We invite new providers to begin the vetting process to join our community. -
Many students bring their own lunches. However, for families who wish to purchase hot lunch, Linder has created a partnership with Wholesome Food Services. This company offers lunch options from popular local restaurants like Papa John’s, Noodles & Co., and Panera.
Families can order meals through the Wholesome Food Services website using a school code, with costs paid directly to the provider. You can choose to order lunches for all school days, or just specific days—Pizza Wednesdays are a favorite!
There’s no commitment, and you can start or stop lunch orders anytime.

Admissions are not based on whether a student plans to stay long-term or short-term. Our goal is to support each child in achieving their unique objectives, whether graduating from Linder or transitioning to another school after a year or two.
-
Yes. We value the strong sense of community that grows when families are part of the school together. While admission for siblings cannot be guaranteed, siblings of current students are given priority during the admission process.

Our goal at Linder is to partner with families and provide radical transparency and real data on your student's progress. Linder conducts standardized testing twice a year, including a full suite of IOWA testing and iReady reading assessments. Even more frequently, we conduct Orton-Gillingham (OG) and Singapore Math assessments. Data from these varied sources, alongside feedback from families, inform cohort placements.
Formal report cards and parent-teacher conferences twice a year provide updates on student growth. However, you can expect feedback far more often than this. Our teachers pride themselves on maintaining open communication. Teachers provide updates on ParentSquare at least once a week, detailing their lesson plans. They also upload at least one sample piece per subject per week for each student to a Google Drive Portfolio that the family has access to.
Families always have a direct line to their child’s teachers through a chat feature in the ParentSquare app.
Because of this extensive communication, we firmly believe that come parent-teacher conferences, nothing should come as a total surprise.

The Linder Academy has been actively working toward accreditation through the Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools. This is an exciting milestone for our school, reflecting our commitment to providing exceptional education.
The accreditation process takes 3-5 years, and includes a thorough review of everything from our curriculum and teaching methods to student support services and overall operations.
We’re proud to say that Linder already exceeds required standards in key areas that set our students up for success, including:
- Testing protocols
- Progress monitoring
- Evidence-based instructional practices
Our goal is full accreditation by the 2027-2028 school year, further solidifying Linder as a leader in fostering academic excellence.
