Middle & Upper School renovation

Our new building is planned for fall 2026!

We will be transforming 112 N. Washington St. (the former Ross building) into a state-of-the-art middle and high school for 160 students. The $7M renovation will be designed to support personalized learning, hands-on experiences, and student well-being.

During the construction phase (2025-2026 school year), Middle & Upper School classes are meeting next door in the classrooms at Christ Church (111 N. Columbus St.), which is attached to the future school building.

Here is just some of what we are planning for our dynamic new learning community.

Tailored classrooms for transformative learning

At Linder, classrooms aren’t just rooms—they are thoughtfully designed environments that maximize focus and learning. They reduce sensory overload, allow for hands-on teaching, support executive functioning, and create the kind of calm, clear structure that helps students thrive.

Our Middle & High School will feature modular seating to adapt to small-group vs. one-on-one work, visual cues that aid focus, sound-dampening materials to reduce distractions, and flexible layouts that allow teachers to tailor the space to the lesson—creating an environment where every student can engage and succeed.

Labs and studios built for hands-on learning

Immersive spaces will spark creativity, experimentation, and real-world application. Purpose-built labs and studios will mirror professional settings—from a fully equipped science lab and tech/robotics workspace to dedicated art studios, a professional-grade dance studio, and sound-proofed music rooms for individual practice. Students will mix chemicals, build circuits, choreograph performances, and produce gallery-ready work—all as part of their daily experience.

For students who learn best by doing, experiential education can be transformative. These experiences unlock confidence, deepen understanding, and make learning stick by connecting academics to the real world in powerful, lasting ways.

Focused study & support spaces

Designed for focus and decompression, our reservable study rooms will offer low-stimulation environments where students can complete work or receive one-on-one support. Equipped with soft lighting, acoustic control, and visual supports, these spaces are ideal for students to block out distractions.

Just as they do now, students will have daily opportunities to meet with their teachers for office hours for extra support in a class. At least once a week they have a check-in with their advisor designed to help them take time to reflect and to plan for the week ahead. This built-in support helps students stay on track while building confidence—reducing anxiety and building life skills in self-awareness, organization, time management, and self-advocacy.

Built-in movement

From a professional-grade dance studio and indoor rock wall to a fully equipped weightlifting space and on-site showers, Linder’s campus will be designed for movement and balance. These active spaces will help students manage energy, reset between classes, and develop physical confidence.

With intentional breaks built into the daily schedule, students will develop self-awareness around their physical and emotional states. These structured opportunities for movement and recovery will support self-regulation, reduce stress, and enhance focus—key components of executive functioning and overall well-being.

Social spaces that nurture connection

Linder’s new campus will feature thoughtfully designed social spaces that foster connection, community, and a sense of belonging. The open, wide staircase linking the first and second floors will double as a vibrant gathering space—perfect for relaxed conversations, group work, or decompressing between classes. The beautiful library and media center will offer a welcoming environment for both collaboration and quiet reflection, complete with cozy seating and spaces built for research and exploration. In the bright dining hall, students will be able to gather in a welcoming space with peers to share a meal and connect about the day.

Flexible lounge zones and common areas around the building will invite students to collaborate, participate in clubs, and form meaningful friendships. These intentional environments will help students develop the peer relationships that support both academic success and personal growth.
