Hooray for Universal Design

We’ve redesigned our library signage!

The primary reason for the revamp was to support dyslexic readers by making wayfaring text simpler, clearer, and more usable. We incorporated OpenDyslexic typeface for navigation and directional signs and increased our used of photos to aid comprehension.

Genre signs appear both on the top of bookcases on the sides of them, to accommodate different eye-levels and perspectives within the library. The ultimate goal is always greater independence—and confidence—for all of our student library users.

Happy reading!
