Angel Collins
Angel is an educator, an engineer, and a former biomechanics researcher with a passion for STEM education and helping students recognize their potential in the classroom and beyond.
Angel holds a Bachelor’s degree in Biomedical Engineering from Florida Institute of Technology, where they completed coursework in STEM education and curriculum, and a Master’s degree in Engineering Mechanics with a concentration in Biomechanics from Virginia Tech.
Throughout their career, Angel has worked with students across a wide range of ages and educational settings, including preschool and pre-K, elementary school science, middle school mathematics, and college-level engineering. Angel has also tutored K–12 and college students and has experience providing classroom instruction in college-level statics. At The Linder Academy, Angel teaches Algebra 1, Geometry, Robotics, and Coding, bringing together their backgrounds in mathematics, engineering, programming, and hands-on STEM education.
Before entering the classroom full-time, Angel worked as a biomechanics researcher focused on reproductive health. Their research provided opportunities to explore anatomical similarities across different mammalian species, work with post-mortem biological specimens, and characterize biological tissues. This experience strengthened Angel’s appreciation for the connections between science, engineering, medicine, and the human body—connections they now enjoy sharing with students through STEM education.
Angel believes that every student is capable of learning, growing, and becoming an independent thinker. They are passionate about helping students develop confidence in their abilities while exposing them to the many opportunities available through STEM and higher education.
Angel is particularly passionate about diversity, equity, and inclusion in STEM and healthcare and hopes to help students see themselves as capable of contributing to these fields.
A lifelong robotics enthusiast, Angel participated in robotics from elementary school through college and was fortunate to spend all four years of their undergraduate education as a recipient of a FIRST Robotics Scholarship.
Outside of school, Angel is a proud D.C. native who enjoys being close to family. They love puzzles, mystery, fantasy, and romance novels, video games, board games, and spending time with their beautiful pit bull, Audrey. Whether working through a challenging problem with a student, building a robot, or exploring a new idea, Angel enjoys finding new ways to make learning engaging and meaningful.
