Hooray for Universal Design
We’ve redesigned our library signage!
In an effort to enhance legibility for all students, wayfaring in our Lower School Library now uses a typeface with greater visual distinction between letters and characters.
The primary reason for the revamp was to support dyslexic readers by making directional text simpler, clearer, and more usable. We incorporated OpenDyslexic typeface for navigation and increased our used of photos to aid comprehension.
Genre signs appear both on the top of bookcases on the sides of them, to accommodate different eye-levels and perspectives within the library. The ultimate goal is always greater independence—and confidence—for all of our student library users.
Happy reading! —Ms. Jennie
