Library
The library is a place where you are always welcome!
The Linder Academy Library is a resource, a gathering space, and a peaceful corner for our school community. To best serve our students, teachers, and staff, we ask that all users adhere to the following policies, procedures, and behavioral expectations.
Expectations for borrowing
Library card: I will check out books using my assigned barcode.
Times for use: I may visit the library with my class and when I have been issued a library pass by a teacher or staff member.
Staff present for checkout: I may not check out a book unless a staff member is present.
Number of books: I may have no more than 2 books checked out at any time.
Due date: Books are due back within 7 days from the date of checkout.
Renewals: I may renew a book one time before returning it, unless an exception is made (for example, if I need more time to finish a longer book and no one else is waiting). Remember: Read at your own speed!
No sharing: I may not check out library books for other students or loan my own library books to other students.
Lost books: If I have misplaced a book, and I’ve looked everywhere I can think of to find it, I will replace it with a new or gently used copy, or provide funds for the library to replace it. I understand that I will not be allowed to borrow again until I have replaced the lost book(s).
Year-end returns: All books must be returned at least 2 weeks before the end of the school year.
Suspension of privileges: I understand that breaking any of these rules may result in temporary suspension of my borrowing privileges.
Expectations for behavior
Noise: I will speak in an indoor voice at all times. I will not make unnecessary noise or be disruptive to other students.
Safety first: For my own safety, I will not run or climb on the furniture.
Book care: I will handle books with care and never throw or drop them on purpose.
No food or drink: I will not eat or drink anything except water in the library, unless I need to for health reasons.
Water only: I may have water in a spill-proof bottle or container.
Consequences: If I break one of these behavior rules, I understand that I will receive only one verbal alert. If a second alert is required, I may be asked to leave the library for an environment better suited for my current behavior and needs.
